In the last few decades Aqaba has lost most of its original character. This website aims to tell the story, explore the recent history, and show the town before suffering extensive planning and intervention that has mostly led to the deterioration of what was a very rare environment of natural as well as built heritage.

This website aims to question the engineering overdose, the successive insensitive interventions and the lack of recognition of inherited assets of the town. It also aims to reconstruct from images and literary records, the qualities which once before gave Aqaba its unique character different from any other town on the Red Sea.
